Internationally recognised cities have their fair share of internationally recognised addresses.
You could even argue that many cities are known around the globe because of their addresses. The iconic streets and avenues, and the buildings that stand proudly on them.
It was the thought of adding another landmark to Melbourne’s rich urban fabric that convinced property developer Larry Kestelman to first imagine Capitol Grand, Australia’s first six-star residential and luxury retail destination.
In his mind was an address that wouldn’t need an address. A building that provides a marker for all that surrounds it.

While there is definitely a trend for older Australians to downsize into spacious, amenity rich apartments, there is also another major factor at play. One which Kestelman had been keenly tracking for many years.
“It is no surprise that internationally, Australia is regarded as a great lifestyle destination, but what we did see that was perhaps not initially obvious, was that internationally tastes have been changing,” says Kestelman. “A new level of luxury apartment has sprung forth and we thought Australians were ready for it.”
To be built on the site of the old Capitol Bakery in the grand old Melbourne suburb of South Yarra, it stood to reason that Kestelman’s 180-metre tall vision of luxury should be named Capitol Grand.
“Not only will it set a new benchmark in luxury apartment living in Australia,” says Kestelman. “We are of the opinion it will draw comparisons with other internationally-renowned luxury addresses including New York’s One57 and London’s One Hyde Park.”
With it now being over 75% sold, it’s very clear that Capitol Grand has filled an important niche in the market. Not just through its luxurious apartments but through its incredible array of amenities including private pools, gyms, dining areas, a cinema and elevated gardens designed by Melbourne landscape architect Jack Merlo.
Furthermore, residents who purchase an apartment on Level 32 or above will have their own entrance, lift, and enjoy exclusive access to the Azure Club, an exclusive facility that willl feature a state-of-the-art gym, lounges, dining rooms and an infinity pool with spectacular views over Port Phillip Bay and the CBD.
