At a lavish gala dinner to mark this year’s Australian Wine Companion Awards, Capitol Grand helped celebrate the very best in Australian winemaking.
Winners of the Qantas epiQure Halliday Australian Wine Companion Awards were announced at a sparkling gala dinner held at the Melbourne Museum and emceed by Eddie McGuire. The awards marked the release of the 2016 Halliday Wine Companion and attracted many prominent Australians, including former Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett and his wife Felicity, who honoured the very best of Australian wine produced at vineyards across the country.The Winemaker of the Year award was sponsored by Capitol Grand and was won by Peter Fraser from Yangarra Estate, Kangarilla, South Australia. Guests at the invitation-only event enjoyed $117,000 worth of the year’s best wines, which complemented a five-course degustation menu incorporating produce from Qantas’ finest First Class suppliers.
